Almost a month

The Tripps are in Utah! It took, two large haul trucks, two pick up trucks, and a trailer to move all our stuff, but with the help of some wonderful family we made it. Our start here has been a little rocky, but we are making it. The house wasn't exactly in the condition we had expected it to be, and poor Matt has had a honey do list that is never ending with things needing to be fixed. But, we are liking it so far.
We have been to church twice now and it is going well. Kori LOVES going to nursery and playing with the kids. Everyone seems to be really welcoming and we already have a couple of friends.

Last week I got out for a girls night with Jamie. We got to meet "The Pioneer Woman." She was having a book signing in Salt Lake so we drove up for the occasion. It made for a great night, books, celebrities, ice cream, and great company. You can't get better than that. And, it was my first time north of Orem in three weeks. It was quite exciting to be able to "go to the city" for an evening.
Jamie, The Pioneer Woman, and me

Update on my "Susie Homemaker" goal......I have been cooking every meal for my family, including a hot breakfast at least three times a week. My meals have been well rounded, nutritious, and overall a hit. Minus a couple of misses I will be keeping all of my new recipes in regular rotation. We have also been enjoying my baking. Mostly whoopie pies. So silly and fun! The cleaning is a constant battle especially in a home this size. But, the laundry has been regularly done, and the house is pretty consistently picked up.

We enjoyed a lovely meal at the only restaurant in Mapleton, there might be more but that's all we've found. The Model A Cafe is classic small town eatin. The waiter is also the owner, and cook. It serves some classic down home good tastin, not good for ya food. Which I LOVE. I enjoyed a tasty breakfast of biscuit's and gravy, Matt had another unhealthy option of chicken fried steak.....I will be enjoying that next time. The "locals" help themselves to coffee, and kindly go around and offer more to the other diners. The only thing it is missing is a cute waitress named Milly. Then in my humble opinion it would truly be a classic small town restaurant.

Life in Mapleton is quite different than Las Vegas, just like we expected. This is my first week as a single parent here while Matt is away working. It occurred to me that I have no family or friends to call up to help me keep my sanity this week. Please pray for me. I might need to resort to some yummy peanut butter cup ice cream each night to make it through.

I have a couple projects I am working on right now, some craft related, some household related. Hopefully as I accomplish them I can post them and get rave reviews.....hint hint the rave reviews would be from you the reader.

Enjoy your week, I know I will......trying to be optimistic here.
