Almost five years ago, Matthew, and I were married. Life has given us quite a few turns since then, but the biggest one is starting right now. We are packed and ready to move our little family of four 385 miles away from the only place either of us has ever called home, Las Vegas, to a little town of only 4000 people, Mapleton, Utah. Where is that you ask, I asked the same thing, well it is South of Provo, and North of Saint George. There are lots of other towns in between but really nothing too big.
For the first time in our lives we are going to be living away from our families, and lifelong friends. We are going to need to learn how to do things completely on our own without the help of family right down the street. Moving from Las Vegas to Mapleton will bring lots of daily life changes for us, like, the choice at least five different grocery stores all within a couple miles around us. No more will we be able to drive five minutes down the road and have our choice of Wal-Mart, Target, Costco, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, another Target, and many more stores to shop at. In fact the closest Target I can find is 23 minutes away!!!! What are we doing? Las Vegas is built for convenience, rural small town Utah......not so much.
So what does this mean for me, the stay at home Mom of two, often raising them all by myself while wonderful hubby is traveling for work? PLAN, PLAN, PLAN! This is something I have always struggled with. I have been the type of person that on a whim decides what I want for dinner and runs to the store to buy the ingredients. Where is my wonderful well stocked pantry we are suppose to have you ask? Well, I have never had one. Change number one....stock pantry! I need to make sure and have weekly meal plans, so that I only need to go grocery shopping once a week.
Change number two, no more multiple trips to my stores in a single day. Right now if I go to Target and forget something I need, or remember something Matthew wants, I just go back and get it. This goes back to planning my shopping. Which takes me to my new goal. Keep a running list of shopping needs. I have never done this, again, shopping on a whim is our style.
I am hoping to embrace our change, and hopefully become a better Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, person, because of it. I look forward to challenging myself to learn new skills, baking, cooking, sewing, decorating, cleaning, all those wonderful things I have never been very consistent at. I'm sure there will be some rough spots along the way, but, thats life right. I hope you enjoy reading of our new adventures, and, will laugh along with us as we take the Tripp of a Lifetime.
