Out with the Bentleys'

Nicole, not me my lifelong friend, and her three kids came up to Utah last week. They stayed up in Murray and spent time with her sister. But, on Friday I got to see her!!!!
We took the kids to Thanksgiving Point. We had such an awesome time! The kids all play really well together, and were genuinely happy to see each other.
We started at the dinosaur museum.

Then after all that fun we went and got ice cream. Yum-o!

After our sugar rush we went and played at the farm. We had never been there before, but we can't wait to go back!

Yup she is crying. She cried the whole time and begged me to take her off. I didn't till the ride was done. Am I a bad Mom? Oh well.

It was a wonderful day!!! I can't wait to see Nicole again, next time will be for Breaking Dawn!!!!! Yay!

More happiness

I know I just did a whole post on happiness, but I found this quite today, very much by chance, and I had to share.
The fact that it's a quote from Walt Disney makes me love it even more.

“Happiness is a state of mind. It’s just according to the way you look at things.”
Walt Disney

This is awesome and goes so perfectly with what I am trying to live my life by.

Thanks for reading,
Happy day to you.

Carrots, noses, and Lessons learned

Two days ago I was standing in my kitchen washing dishes. Kori had been eating lunch at the kitchen table, then went to the basement to play. A few minutes after she went down there she came back up with a surprise.

Kori, "Mommy there's a carrot in my nose."
Me, "Kori, you don't have carrots in your nose silly goose."
Kori, "Okay Mommy."

I laughed and continued on with what I was doing. Then stopped and thought about what she said. I called her over and checked her nose and didn't see a carrot, we both laughed again and went about our business.

About a half an hour later Kori has orange snot running down her face. I checked her nose again, this time with a flashlight, and sure enough there was a carrot in her nose. I looked at both nostrils but only saw one carrot. After trying for a couple minutes to get it out I made the decision to take her to quickcare and get it out.

After check in issues at the front desk we finally made it back to the Dr.

Having never been to the Dr. before Kori thought it was all cool and scary at the same time. Good thing she brought her Minnie mouse with her.

She got weighed, 29.8 lbs.
Minnie got weighed, .8 lbs.
Lol

She got her blood pressure checked, Minnie didn't because she was scared.

Then we went to the exam room and waited for the Dr. Dr. Stewart to be exact.

First he asked her what she did. She proudly told him she put a carrot in her nose. He asked her which side, and she pointed to her left nostril.

He looked in there

Yup there's something in there. He left to get tweezers and magnifying glasses.
When he came back she laid down, the nurse and I held her, and he got the big piece of carrot out. It got stuck a little bit, but it came out eventually.

She was so happy to have it out! We left and she got a Cinderella sticker and lots more attention. We had another long talk about putting things in our nose and drove home. End of story......

Nope it doesn't end until 8:30 the next morning. Kori was playing in my bed with Averie, I was in my bathroom brushing my teeth.

Kori sneezed and said, " Mommy, I got my other carrot out."

Yup she had carrot in both sides! Nope the Dr. didn't check the other side. I did but it was so far up there I didn't really see it. She slept all night with carrot up her nose!!!

The surprise piece of carrot.

So just in case your two year old ever sticks something up their nose learn from me and be sure to check both sides!!!!

Happiness is.....

There's this song that talks about what happiness is. I remember singing it at the summer camp I went to at BYU when I was 12. Anyway, lately I have had parts of the song stuck in my head.

I can be very negative sometimes, its a trait I am aware of and dislike! This song is going to help me with my negativity. Whenever I start feeling that emotion coming on I stop and think about what makes me happy. This is totally corny I know, but, it's working.
Today I was feeling overwhelmed by my house, and annoyed about a couple of different things. Instead of falling into the trap, I stepped back and thought about what makes me happy.

Today, it was playing dolls with my girls. Yesterday Kori and I played dolls together for a couple of hours. Normally I don't take that long to play with her because I have so much other stuff to do. But, that stuff will always be there so why not spend time with my little girls who won't always be this age and want to play dolls together.

So, that is my new trick, I am really hoping I can keep it up and get rid of this negative side!

Tell me, what is "happiness" for you?

The rodeo

The little town next to our littler town is having a big summer celebration this week. It started last weekend with a rodeo. When Matt and I heard about it we knew we had to go, who doesn't love a rodeo?

We started the evening with dinner at our hometown restaurant the Model A Cafe, then drove into town to catch the show.

We had tons of fun and Kori can't wait for her chance to ride horses.

MPS challenge 6

Make something with a tag on it.
Another challenge for me as I don't use a lot of tags in my stuff. But I like how it turned out.

The tag is cut from the essentials cart on my CE2.

MPS challenge 2

Use Kraft cardstock.
Now for a lot of people this would be no challenge, for me it was! I didn't even know if I had any kraft. Luckily I did!

I made this page using basic grey hopscotch papers. The title shape was cut using my CE2.

Getting Ready

We are so excited for this weekend. 17 family members are driving up to stay with us and be a part of Averie's baby blessing.

We are still shocked at the love and support we are being shown. We have amazing families!

So this week my goal is to get everything around the house as perfect as possible. All the boxes have been unpacked for a while. With the exception of my craft room. For some reason I just couldn't ever find the time to get in there and get it done. Could it be my two and a half year old, and three month old were keeping me from it?

So today I got in there while they were both napping, something that NEVER happens outside of the car. Well my room is finished! Things are put away and organized, I have stuff up on my walls and the closet is even pretty nice. I have one more box with stuff, but need to buy some more organizers before I can empty it.

I love my room! I am so stinkin excited to have the space I have, with room to grow! It's just awesome!

Tomorrow my goal is to get the basement 100% cleaned and ready. Wish me luck!

Cake bites

Recently, since our move, I have been really into learning new baking techniques. This weekend I attempted making cake bites for the first time.

I only just discovered what these were about a month ago, and then discovered a wonderful blog, and book on them. The Bakerella at http://m.bakerella.com/ has a wonderful blog and book I highly recommend. I ordered her book off amazon and this weekend got to baking.

Knowing this first batch would be completely for my family I thought I would do a flavor I knew I would love, chocolate cake with cherry frosting. Yum!
The baking process is super simple just a box mix, and canned frosting. Kori helped along the way.

When it came time for the dipping and decorating part I thought it would be fun to make these as cake pops and put them on lollipop sticks. They tasted great but don't look so pretty yet.

Halfway through the process I realized I needed more candy melts, and more fun decorating tools......off to JoAnns. Which by the way is all the way in Provo! Hello country living!

Have you seen these cute peanut butter cup candy molds? Super cute, and the Bakerella uses them to make cupcake bites. So I purchased some to see If I liked them.

Yup, I do! These little things are adorable!!! I still need some practice to make them look perfect, but I really like them.

Now the trick is to make three batches of these for Averies blessing luncheon next week and not eat them all! Um yeah we will see.

Two months

March brought the Tripps lots of fun! We are still discovering our new area and all that we get to enjoy here.
Some of our outings have been to; ikea, the Sandy Expo Center, market street grill in South Jordan, and Pirate Island.
At Ikea we have purchased quite a few things, a guest bedroom set, a front entryway shoe and coat storage thing, dining table chairs; no table yet it's on back order, and many other little things. My favorites so far are my lime green dinner plates and bowls.....so cute!
Last week the girls and I had a fun outing up to Sandy for the Scrapbook Expo. I have been counting down for this event for months. It is just one more reason why I LOVE living in Utah. We had a great time, but next time I will be going without the kids. Hopefully I will have a friend or two that is obsessed with scrapshopping, oops scrapbooking as much as I am and we can go together.
I did get to meet Jinger Adams Provocraft spokesperson. She was very sweet.

Along with my crafting obsession I now have a baking/ cooking obsession. Poor Matt, they can both be very expensive hobbies.
My new hobby is at least bringing him good stuff to eat. This month I have made baked tilapia for the first time, pork loin, steaks, pork barbacoa tacos, and some yummy chicken dishes. My desserts have been my personal favorites, brownies with caramel, regular brownies, yummy chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes, and Matts very vanilla pudding cake for his birthday.

We had our first real house guests this month also. My mom and her husband Shane had to come up to Utah for some medical appointments so they stayed with us for a night. Kori especially LOVED having them here and was happy to be able to spend with them.

Both the girls are growing up tons! Averie just turned three months old. She really is so sweet, and happy all the time. The highlight of her month was laughing at the balloons Daddy got for his Birthday.

YouTube Video

Kori is growing a lot also. She now knows all her colors, how to spell her name, and when her Birthday is.

YouTube Video

Thats all for now. Hopefully with my new app I will be able to keep up on the blogging easier. Thanks for reading
